On October 9, 2019, Turkish military forces launced a new offensive into Northern Syria. Turkey’s assault is targeting an area that has been controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, a Syrian Kurdish-led group that is the primary U.S. partner in Syria in the counter-Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) campaign.
